Minor injuries and skin conditions in pets
Cuts, scrapes, bites and stings, ringworm, flea-bite dermatitis, minor burns: these are all conditions that your pet may experience at one or other stage in their lifetime. Though minor, these can cause pain and discomfort for your pet. By treating these problems quickly, effectively and naturally, healing time will be shortened and complications such as scarring and infection can be minimised.
The first step in wound care is cleaning the affected area. By removing dirt and other foreign matter from the wound, the chance of infection developing is lessened. Wounds that are kept clean and dry heal quicker and are less likely to scar. Ideally the wound should be cleaned with a disinfectant solution to destroy any bacteria that may be lurking in the damaged tissues. It is important that the disinfectant that you use is gentle enough for your pet. (Some of the human disinfectants can actually delay wound healing in dogs and cats!!) An additional advantage of cleaning a wound is that it will enhance the effects of any topical cream or ointment that is applied thereafter. So, clean wounds mean better healing and less discomfort for your furry friend.
The Natural Way
Dogs and cats can injure themselves in many ways. There are some preventative tips that can help you to make your home and garden safer for your pets. Always keep pathways clear of bushes that contain thorns or sharp branches. Lawnmowers, shovels and other garden implements should be kept locked in a shed, and bikes or large objects that might fall over on your pet should be securely tethered to a fence. If you have cats – be careful of candles that are lit, as cats tend to rub past them and not realize the danger. Similarly, heaters and hot plates should be turned off when you are not in the room to supervise your pets. As a rule, safety tips that you might apply to small children and babies apply to your pets as well!

What are the Ingredients?
PetAlive Clenzor contains the following 100% natural, herbal ingredients in a topical, herbal tincture:
Hamamelis virginianum (Witchhazel) is an excellent astringent and cleansing herb and will reduce inflammation, bleeding and pain. It has long been used by Native Americans to relieve the swelling, bruising, & bleeding of external injuries. Witchhazel also treats and prevents skin infections.
Calendula officinalis (Marigold) is a herbal ingredient used to treat skin problems and promote healing of wounds. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and prevents infection with its three-fold action, having anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Marigold has been shown to assist the regeneration of damaged skin tissue.
Melissa officinalis is also called lemon balm and is well-known for its soothing and calming properties when used topically. Lemon balm is useful when used to clean areas of eczema or applied to boils. Also used as a soothing salve for insect stings and bites
Urtica urens is excellent for healing and pain relief and can be safely and effectively used to cleanse minor burns, hives and itchy skin eruptions. This herb also has astringent properties and will help to stop bleeding.
How do I use PetAlive Clenzor?
PetAlive Clenzor comes in a 50 ml topical tincture.
Directions: Using clean hands and a clean cotton wool swab, apply directly to affected area when needed. Always clean the wound or affected area from the centre outwards to prevent further contamination.
Caution: For external use only. Please consult your veterinarian should symptoms persist. If any swelling of the mouth, tongue or eyes, or any breathing difficulties are noticed after an insect bite or sting, please seek urgent veterinary attention for your pet. Likewise if there is uncontrollable bleeding seek veterinary advice.

Cuts on paws and ears bleed a lot because these areas have a very good blood supply. It is important to stop any bleeding and this is best done by applying firm pressure with a wad of cotton swabs to the bleeding area. Keep the pressure on for at least 5 minutes. If you cannot control the bleeding after applying pressure, seek veterinary attention.
Deep cuts and injuries may need to be stitched to achieve complete healing. Seek veterinary advice in cases of deep or wide cuts
Injuries caused by nails, pieces of wire or anything rusty or dirty may cause tetanus. Consult your vet about tetanus prevention.
Trimming the fur away around the wound will aid healing. The other pets on the block might laugh at your furry friend’s odd hairstyle, but by trimming the hair away the risk of wound infection is lowered
Remember to regularly cut back bushes and hedges in your garden in order to avoid stray branches, which might cause harm to your pet. Always trim back branches that have thorns, and try to keep garden tools stored away – avoid leaving them exposed. Never leave wire lying around for your pet to get caught up in – make sure your home is safe place for all creatures great and small!
