This year’s SPCA Wiggle Waggle Walkathon saw a fantastic turnout with an estimated 5000 four-legged participants and their owners setting out with one goal in mind: raising funds for the SPCA!
Blessed with weather that was cool and overcast, dogs of every size, shape and temperament took to the suburban roads of Constantia early on Sunday morning the 2nd of November. Many water-points set along the route provided a great rest and opportunity for a quick, thirst-quenching gulp of water (or a dip in the water bucket) before setting off again! Participants were spurred on by on-lookers and PetAlive staff with the more enthusiastic dogs running straight over to say hello – (why else would they be clapping so loudly?). Other, smaller, less active four-legged participants were carried by their owners, or hitched a ride in the back of a baby pram – now there’s ingenuity for you! Special mention must be made of Tequila, the three legged Alsation, who wiggled and waggled her way to the finish line with style and grace - a true testament to what the day is all about!
